Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, and know when to run

This is from an old Kenny Rogers song called "The Gambler". I have to admit I love it but it has very good points also.

I had to make a "deal" with my husband. It still makes me laugh every time I think about it, and I promise to post pictures soon to show what it was all about.

Here's the deal. My husband has a mounted deer head he had done several years ago (as in like 7 or 8 years ago). I have put up a fight every time he has mentioned putting the thing up in our house....... a serious fight. We've been in our house for 5 years, and the deer head went up Monday.

Why you ask? I need the baby's room painted. And my husband was putting up a serious fight about doing it so I made him a deal. He'd paint the room with only minimal grumbling, and he could put up the deer head.

So now.....we have a deer head over our fireplace. I promise I'll post a picture.

Moral of the story: Know when to fight and know when to deal.

I broke down and allowed a dear head in the den. I didn't want it either but now the house has a tin of stuff I wanted!! HA!

This amuses me. We have a mounted deerhead in our livingroom, a tiger in our livingroom and two deerhides on the piano bench. :P

girl, I have one in my house too! My comprimise was that he could hang it in our first house and not in the 2nd...well, we are in our 2nd and it is hanging up on the wall upstairs in the bonus room...it's a mancave kinda place, so I'm fine with it.

To be honest, "Archer" wasn't bad at the first house either. His color matched my paint colors in my house. I grew accustomed to dusting his neck every week.

Yes, he is named...he was shot in archer county...hence "Archer".

You could always decorate him with Christmas lights :) Maybe if you start putting hair bows on the antlers or scarfs around his neck, John will want to take it down :)
