It's a family thing

Labor Day weekend is opening day for Dove Season where we live. My dad is an advid hunter as is my husband. Several years ago Dad started doing a big dove hunt opening day. He cooks a whole hog along with sides. All the men gather to eat lunch then head to the field to hunt. Last year, LM went for lunch and then I went to get him.
This year..... TH thought he was old enough to stay and actually go out into the field. So..... Go he did! My mom and I (along with BB) went out for lunch then headed back home. I ended up going back and getting LM along with a friend's little girl. The kids were tired and hungry...... and dirty! I picked them up, we hit M.cDonald's drive thru, came home & ate, then I put everyone in the bathtub.
LM actually hunted two days. I'm a proud momma. My child can hang! :) It was really good for him and his daddy to have some good quality time together too. TH had to entertain LM opening day bc they had some down time. Entertained him by letting him play on Mr Mac's tractors.
Entertaining himself before it's time to hit the field.

It's show time!

Sitting in the field with his daddy. It amazes me that a 3 yr old enjoyed hunting and did so well hanging out in the field for several hours.

LM's gun is a BB gun. So yes, it's technically real. But it has one of those zip ties on it.... so it can't be cocked and shot.

Sighting in on a bird.

Hanging with Poppa for a bit.

The following Saturday.... the men (& boy) went out early to the field.

BB and I were snug in bed while these crazy boys were hunting. (I'm looking forward to when both boys are old enough to go out in the field. That will give me some alone time!)

Walking back to Daddy.

Sending LM out to retrieve the bird.

He found it.

Hahaha. LM's face is priceless. I'm not sure how sure of this he is.

"Um, Daddy, it's on my hands!"

My boy is all boy. I can't really get into the whole hunting for sport. I really just don't get it. I will say though that whatever my family kills..... we eat or the game is given to someone that will. My son is growing up to respect guns and to respect animals. My dad love it; my husband loves it. I guess my boys will love it.
