Tandem-bike

At church yesterday, a summer intern gave her "God story".  It was such a simple story really..... simple yet very profound.  To me anyway.  The story was that she had ridden on a tandem-bike with another person.  She was on the back of the bike....not the driver.  She had absolutely no control during this bike ride..... no decision in which direction they went, no decision in how long they road..... NO decision whatsoever.  All she did was peddle.  She then went on to draw a comparison with a tandem-bike and her relationship with God.

The relationship being that God is in control.  He's in the driver's seat.  We can plan and map out how we think or how we want things to go.  We can express our opinions in which direction we want to go or how far we wish to ride......but at the end of the day, we're just passengers being taken down the path that God sees fit.

I simplified her story a lot but if you stop and think..... so true.  Some things are taken out of our hands and out of our control.  We deal with the outcome the best way we can.
