The Look

It has been brought to my attention that I have....... a look. One that tends to appear when I'm making a point or possibly when I'm annoyed.

Now there's someone else throwing this "look" around. That would be my child. Obviously, I have given him this look on numerous occasions to the point that he is picking it up himself and using it.

The second time that I really noticed Lil Man doing this was last week. He had his first day of preschool last week, and you all know didn't go over very well. After I picked him up and took him to my mom's, we were sitting in the den just talking. My dad walks in and is playing with Lil Man. He asks "Lil Man, How was school today?"

Lil Man: Shoots him "the look" and proceeds to walk away. He then ignores Poppa for 2 minutes. Completely and absolutely ignores my dad. Would not look at him or acknowledge he was in the room.

Me: Laughing. And thinking that's my boy.

It's all fun and games until I get thrown the look. Which seems to be happening more and more. My kiddo knows what buttons to push with me and tends to do it ALOT in the evenings before his daddy gets home. Normally, we get home, change clothes and go outside to play. He's normally cool for the first hour or so. Then after that......it's down hill. He starts acting out and doing things he knows will get him in trouble. Things just go downhill from there.

Now, I might would understand this a little more if I was trying to do things and only giving him half my attention. But that's not the case. He has my undivided attention at this time. This is his time for me to play with him and do what he wants to do. Confuses the heck out of me!!

The Hubby gets home, and Lil Man becomes this happy kid again. And the real kicker, he becomes more of a momma's boy at this point. After he's played with his daddy, he is almost glued to my hip. Pure craziness!

One issue we're dealing with is discipline.

We are having a difficult time with Lil Man when it comes to discipline. Popping his hand led him to hitting. We then moved to time-outs. Now, we're doing time-outs sitting in the corner and looking at said corner. Some improvements in behavior have been made but it's almost like when Lil Man gets in that "mood".....it doesn't matter what we do to him. He's hell bound bent and determined to do and act as he pleases.

Why oh why don't children come with specific (very specific) rules and regulations. A handbook that tells all the what's, where's and how's. Life would be so much more simple. A mommies wouldn't look forward to that glass of wine! :)

I guess that's why we have Ladies' Nights. If you don't have one, YOU NEED TO GET ONE!! Last night was a breath of fresh air. Spending the evening with not a care in the world. No worries about work, money, children, husbands.......just good food and an enjoyable evening with my ladies. We have the Vegas "motto"......what happens or is said at Ladies' Night, stays at Ladies' Night!

Now off to be productive! Toodles.
