The host made (and I'm paraphrasing here) about mothers wanting to work and not stay at home. Dr. Laura's response was "They don't need to have children then."
DID SHE SERIOUSLY JUST SAY THAT??!!
I about flipped out! I'm sorry..... for those that stay at home.... more power to you. That's a choice that you, you & your spouse, your spouse....whatever have made. BUT to hear a person make that comment.........pissed me off! Would I want my child to be in a day care every day....No. If it was daycare or me stay home, I would probably stay home if it was doable.
So now..... I'm going to buy this book (which is probably her goal) and read what she has to say.

I think I would enjoy staying at home....maybe (probably not!) LOL. I have the best of both worlds though. My mom keeps Lil Man while I work for the family construction business. So now..... my situation is not a normal working mom one for two reasons. My mom keeps my child; my dad is my boss. (This can be good on some days.... not so good on others.......as far as Dad being my boss.) I am a blessed person to have wonderful family who I truly enjoy seeing on a daily basis. People hear this....and some think it's the oddest thing. I can't imagine life any other way. My baby boy gets undivided attention ALL DAY LONG from his NaNa so I can work and not think once about the love and care he's receiving.
********
On another note........
I'm craving one of these babies!!! Yummy!!!! (Going on the "To Do" list for tomorrow..stop and pick up some candy.)

Those eggs are yummy, but nowadays I can only eat half of one at a time. Too much sugar for me! all that ooey gooey center... it's yummy but a bit nauseating.
And Dr. Laura just has really strong opinions. You're right... it's up to every family what's best for them. Just remember, for every person who says that staying at home is the only option, you will find another person who is on the same page as you.
That's what celebrities do... they use their popularity and their media coverage to promote their agenda. Personally, we have always had me stay home with the kids, because it has been possible for us financially. There have been times when I've gone back to work part-time because of finances and while hubs and I didn't want that, we did what we had to do for finances sake. But don't let her get you ruffled - just blow it off and recognize yourself as the exact right person that God has intended to raise your beautiful son.
Um...yeah. Never mind Dr. Laura herself is a working mother (and has been for years).
And so goes the Mommy Wars. If only all moms (stay at home, work from home, work away from home) respectfully supported one another's decisions, we could get by without hearing such statements by Dr. Laura. I agree with you that each family needs to determine what works best for them at each particular point in time.
