Who's the "voice of reason" in your household? You or your spouse/significant other?
It's so not me in this household.
I'm a spur of the moment, fly by the seat of my pants, now now now kind of girl. I will think something through for all of 5 to 10 minutes. If I have it in my head, then it really doesn't matter how long I think about it. The bottom line is if I want it......I want it. I do have to say in my defense that I really do "go with my gut." And it tends to lead me in the right direction.
The "voice of reason" is so my husband.
He will think something through. Think it through again. Look at every angle. Look at every angle one more time just to make sure.
Just writing this makes me laugh. We are such two different people yet so similar at the same time. We drive each other crazy at times. He telling me to have more patience while I'm saying hurry the heck up already.
We've been discussing lately.......actually, I've been trying to persuade The Hubby to put our house on the market and sell this sucker. Don't get me wrong! I love our home; love where we live but just want to see if we could sell and build another house. If we were to sell it, we would be a price tag on it that was not really negotiable. We have a decent amount of equity in our home. Tonight, I actually had The Hubby on board. He then threw in a couple of stipulations (one of which I believe is going to be a no go). THEN came of "voice of reason."
Oh how I hate it!! After a discussion, we both decided we were going to wait until at least spring time possibly late as next July to put it up for sell. We have a goal to build and sell a couple of houses over the next 5 to 10 years so that we have a nice, large home paid for. I think about being mortgage free and get giddy. There were several reasons which we both agreed would make waiting better.
But darn it.......I hate that "voice of reason" at times. :)

Being the 'banker' in the household I automaticaly {sp?} become the voice of reason.
I'm good at it. The few times hubby has 'vetoed' me and gone ahead with some crazy scheme he has regreted it. :)
I hate moving, the stress of buying/selling and packing. I am going to be buried in my backyard :)
Being debt free will get almost anyone giddy!
I am definitely the practical one. :)
HA! I can so relate to your husband, and Bobby is so you. We call it "the free spirit" and "the nerd" at our house. I guess you have to have both though... my life would be so flippin' boring without Bobby to liven things up.
That's definitely Nate! I like to have a plan, but I'm definitely a little looser with the money than he is. I mean, it's just sitting there and we can't take it with us when we die.
I am you. I'd have it on the market in the morning. My hubs? Notsomuch. Great idea though!
