We were playing outside yesterday. The Hubby was washing his car. Lil Man was playing in the water and with his golf club caddy. And I was sitting in a chair reading a book. I can honestly say that I can sit and read but all the while know where my child is. I think it's a mom thing.
Lil Man was being watched by his daddy because he was where I couldn't actually see him. I kept my eye on my husband to see if he was actually seeing Lil Man. A minute had passed with no look. I get up and what to I see.........
MY CHILD IS IN THE ROAD. FIFTY YARDS FROM WHERE HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN. Calmly pushing his caddy down the road.
I about flipped!! And took off after him.
The Hubby, "He was JUST right here!"
Me, "Just goes to show us both how quickly he can get gone."
We live in the back of our subdivision so cars should be going somewhat slowly. Some do; some don't. Lesson learned! Luckily, it wasn't the hard way.
This brings me to a question though......or statement. I think mom's watch and are more in tune to their children than dads are.
NOW.....I'm not saying my husband doesn't watch our child. He does. I think I'm just a little more annal about it though. We were having a family dinner last Monday night at the in-laws b/c some out of town family was in town. Some of us were sitting at the table after dinner having a pleasant conversation. The comment was made to me, "Does The Hubby not watch Lil Man? You keep looking every so often." Lil Man was playing with his cousins not twenty feet away (from me) while his daddy and uncle were 5 feet away from him. Yes, I was checking up on my child even though his daddy was an arm links away.
It's a momma thing!! It's ingrained!! It's going to continue to happen!!
Because anything can happen in a matter of seconds..... much less minutes.

I'm glad nothing happened!
Scary times for sure!
You know, I watch my little boy (he's 2) closely, but my husband is MUCH more attentive! by that I mean, if Hagen is sitting in the living room playing with his cars and entertaining himself, I take advantage and put a load in the wash, clean a bathroom, etc. My husband's world just STOPS if he is in charge of Hagen.
I understand watching them, but my husband will do NOTHING when he is. It kinda drives me crazy to be honest. BUT it does come in handy when Hagen is "helping" him in the yard. Ryan is very attentive in that.
I guess it is good that you two have the balance...that's one way to look at it!
I'm sure you and I have many other heartstopping minutes ahead of us with little boys!
