My Lunch Date

For the past few weeks I've had Fridays off, as I did yesterday. These days are spent with Lil Man and I hanging out having some quality time.

Yesterday...... we had a lunch date at McDonald's. Topping off our meal with a little dessert.

The Hubby was working so we took this picture and sent it to him to kind of rub it in his face. :)

Mooooove on over.

Yesterday Lil Man's class went to a local farm to see the cows and go on a hay ride. I had a doctor's appointment (and honestly, don't think I need to be doing hay rides at this point) so my mom went with Lil Man's class.

I heard they got to see a baby cow actually being born....... interesting I'm sure to a bunch of 2 & 3 yr olds.

The poor cows thought it was feeding time when the tractor rolled in.

Let's get this show on the road!

We had a rough weekend around our house. I played it safe Friday and took Lil Man to the pedi because I thought he had an ear infection. I didn't want to have a miserable weekend and then have The Hubby go out of town for several days this week. (Truthfully, I was concerned about being home by myself with a sick child.) Anyway...... turns out the poor kid had a double ear infection and strep throat. I patted myself on the back several times for going ahead and taking him in. We caught it early and other than a few rough nights he's been feeling pretty darn good.

The cow farm of course made everything better! :) Cause my baby loves him some cows.

Sidekick

My sidekick for the day........

He's chillin and nappin while I'm working. When The Hubby is away, the dog gets to go to the office. :)

I get weekly pregnancy updates from BabyCenter on how the baby is developing, "to do" list, other random pieces of advice and a "belly laugh". This was this weeks "belly laugh." I thought I should share....... it cracked me up! I've hit the 34 week mark and have to say sleeping, breathing, and other daily tasks are getting a little more difficult.....but I'm only complaining a tiny bit cause I know I'm one of those lucky ones that has easy pregnancies. This cartoon couldn't have been more perfect!

What's your "crack"?

Is there something/somewhere you can do or go when things are getting crazy and you need a little bit of sanity?

Exercise.

That's it for me..... that's my "crack". My addiction that makes things alright in my world..... it can be going for a long walk (with the dog & kiddo or without) or going down to our exercise room to jump on the elliptical or the weight machine.

Exercise = Clearing the brain.

Exercise = Calming

Exercise = A few minutes of peace and quiet from a whining child.

Exercise = Making a fight with the Hubby end a little quicker because it gives me time to cool down.

It's getting a little more frustrating for me as I get farther into my pregnancy (I'm at 34 weeks today!!) because physically I'm having to slow down. Exercise is having to be pushed farther and farther aside because physically I just can't do it all...... My poor husband can probably tell you my temper is a little shorter these days. If I realize I'm being a major "B", I try to rein it in and calm down. Sometimes this works...... sometimes it doesn't. Last night, Lil Man was in a whiny mood due to not getting all of his nap in. I called The Hubby, "All I'm asking for is to be able to walk. Please come home on time so I can get out and get some exercise."

Exercise = Nice Mommy & Loving Wife.

Dog Pile Anyone?

By Sunday evening...... my boys were tired of spending all weekend in the house. This is how the evening ended.

True meaning of a dog pile!

(FYI: The Hubby's weight was NOT, I repeat NOT, on the dog!)

Sorry for the quality of the photos. I was chilling in the recliner and didn't feel like getting up to grab the camera..... this was with my phone.

Southern Snow Ya'll

We finally got snow!!!

The weather dudes have been calling for it several times. Snow finally fell last night..... 4" or so.

Lil Man and I checking it out.

Lil Man and Daddy getting ready for a sled down the hill....... well, Daddy only actually.

My baby and I posing for the camera.

"Mommy, I've had enough!"

Inside.....warm and snug in a blanket enjoying a cup of chocolate milk.

This morning..... pictures of the beautiful snow!

A family shot.

Lil Man with Nana and Popa.

Lil Man was finally persuaded to ride down the hill with Daddy.

Into the road.

P.A.R.T.Y.

Today is party day at Lil Man's school........ Valentine's Party! Instead of doing normal Valentine's, I decided to make sugar cookies to give out to the kids. I put them in little bags that were decorated with hearts.

Gotta love Nestle's "break & bake"!!
(Courtesy of Nestle Toll House)

I have one complaint though..... the icing that comes with it. Who in the world could do this and make it look good??? Not me! So I cheated a little. Lil Man and I added red, sugar crystals to our cookies.
Hope his classmates enjoy them!!

Spewing.... so take cover!

Unloading and unleashing.

Yesterday was pure crap! My work day was pretty darn good. Once I picked up my child, it went down hill........ way down hill. The whining started as soon as we got in the car to head home.

I had talked to my husband, and he was going to be home at a reasonable time so I could walk. That's all I asked for...... just 30 minutes of peace & quiet to get a little exercise in and clear my head. That was the plan.

Lil Man and I played outside for an hour when we got home. This normally puts him in a good mood. Normally being the key word. Once the sun started setting, the temperature of course started dropping. Time to head in....... no word from my husband. Whining is becoming more and more pronounced. Temper starts to show..... timeouts ensue. Multiple timeouts.

5:45 rolls around..... The Hubby calls me, "On my way home. Be there in about 7 or 8 minutes."

Then.......

5 minutes later, I get a call from a dispatcher, "Your husband won't be coming home. He's running code." I was hanging on by my finger tips.... I think I got tears in my eyes at this point.

Lil Man decided to start throwing toys. Back to time out. He hits me in the face and out of anger I popped his leg. Yes, I felt like shit once I did but hitting in not acceptable in our house.... yet, I popped him for hitting. Not a very good punishment I know. I think I was in tears again at this point.

Lil Man and I finally get to a good point where he's playing and watching a cartoon he likes so I can cook dinner. Dinner is on the table and some little boy doesn't want to eat because he wants to keep watching TV. Another battle ensues. After much patience, my child finally comes to the table to eat.

And let's not forget this whole time I've got a dog that is wanting to go on his daily walk (and to poop!). Nothing I can do but put him off.

No word from my husband.

OH! Did I fail to mention that a local officer was killed in the line of duty over the weekend? Yeah, keep that in the back of your mind while you haven't heard shit from your husband and it's 1.5 hrs later since you heard from a dispatcher.

Bath time and cuddle time. Lil Man and I are both calming down and getting in to chill mode.

8:50 pm rolls around....... ring ring ring. "I'll be home in 5 mins."

Lil Man and I are cuddling on the couch. My husband walks in, "Here. Let me take him up and I'll put him down."

I'm sorry but from this point I was not a good wife. I was pissed off and just plain angry. Is it really so damn hard to make a phone call, send a message, or hell have dispatch call me again?

The incident was on the local news as to what/where was husband had been. Was I supposed to instantly know this?

My husband is a wonderful husband, father, and officer. But damn, he doesn't do so well when it comes to being a husband while he's on the job at times. Now.... of course there are times when communication is not an option. I understand this. But for the most part, at some point in time.... with technology, some form of communication can take place.

Bottom line..... I went to bed feeling like a crappy mom and bitch of a wife.

I promise to try to be a better wife next time but it's not easy being in the position I'm in at times. And as for a better mom, that's a work in progress at all times too.

************

Today, a "Last Call" will go out for the officer killed. If you've ever heard one, you know how it feels and sounds when the officer doesn't answer and is then given "permission" to go home.

Planning stages

I decided to plan a little something for Valentine's for The Hubby and me.
I'm not sure what yet.
Going to see if my parents will watch the kiddo........
So the Hubby and I can go away for the night.
One last little hurrah before Baby Boy is born.

30th Birthday Baby

My darling husband turned 30 Saturday.

I have to say I was disappointed with the way it turned out. I had this party all planned with 30-35 people coming to the house...... a SURPRISE party!

THEN......

The weatherman opened his big mouth and ruined it all. The predictions varied..... 2"-3" of snow/sleet/ice up to 6". What the hell was I supposed to do?

Friday morning a decision had to be made because I had to finish all the grocery shopping. Was I going to take the chance knowing the odds were we wouldn't get anything and spend a good deal of $$$ on food and drinks........ or call it off.

I caved and told The Hubby what I had planned. We made the decision to cancel all the people who didn't actually live in our neighborhood. This still left us with 8 couples coming and now with their kiddos. We were still going to party but not quite as big and the craziness would be compounded with children.

Party we did!

Cake time!!

Some friends enjoying cake.

The kids having a blast with all the toys in the middle of the living room floor.

I know I know I know.... look at what my child is wearing. I never got around to putting cute clothes on him. For the first 2 hours he wouldn't leave my side, and I had to hold him most of that time. I love my child dearly but he is not a people person. He is getting better but I really think he just has the personality that he could care less if he's around others or not.

And a small FYI: if the temperature is below freezing, your gas lines for your propane cookers might just freeze. Which means cooking will take a hell of a lot longer and make the hostess start to freak out..... to the point of making plans to order pizza to feed everyone. Lesson learned the HARD way.

And the roads were fine so everyone could have come. BUT, it did start snowing right as people were arriving. ***EYE ROLL*** Dear Weather, Just make up your ever loving mind!

32 weeks

I'm not clapping because I'm 32 weeks.... though I should be! I cropped this picture from one of the photos from Hubby's bday party.

What's been going on around these parts.......

Lil Man has been.......

Bowling. Lots and lots of bowling.

Lost a battle with the concrete driveway. Ended up with a skint nose and busted lip.

Watched some TV with his daddy's hat on. Don't you always wear a hat when you watch television?..... sideways at that!

And wear a hat while standing on the couch playing with your tractor.

Lost a nap battle to mommy and utter exhaustion.
