I need potty training help.
LM will be 3 mid August.
He's soooo not interested!
Do I push it? Do I let him "tell" me when he's ready?
He's supposed to be using the potty before he starts 3 yr old preschool. I've been making him sit on his little potty when he gets up in the morning and after bath time at night. The first few times he was into it and actually used it. Now, not so much.
Advice needed and wanted!!!

OK, so Hagen's school trained him but I will tell you a few things that they did.
For one, he was a follower. He had a buddy in his class that was doing it so he wanted to!
1. get a hand stamp...it will save your funiture from random stickers, etc. If he pee's on the potty give him one stamp. I started stamping his tummy because it was getting to look like he was tattooed!!
2. get a jar of M&M's, gummy bears, whatever candy he likes and give him ONE for any poop that he makes. I mean, if it is a little LITTLE one still reward him. I was giving him a fun size bag of M&M's for any size and one day he had a tummy ache and had 6 bags...no lie...it was torture!
3. Make sure little man does NOT get constipated. That is #2 big problem. They will be scared to go if they have one that hurts!
I got toilet seat lids from Home Depot that are a normal lid with a thing in it that makes the hole smaller, but when it is not needed then it fits inside the lid. They are fabulous. Just ask someone that works there for the toilet seat for potty training. The inserts like CARS, etc. have handles that made it hard for him to straddle the seat.
Do not teach him to stand...sit for now, straddle the seat, and point it to the water!
I hope this helps and you are not sitting there saying DUH the whole time. :)
We can talk details when I give you a call sometime this week!! But Carrie gave you some good pointers!!
I tried the wait-and-see approach at first with T, but I knew she was more than ready and so was I. So we moved to me being a little more pushy. I simply got rid of the diapers and gave her no choice - no pull-ups, just straight underwear. Took us about a week, but she caught on pretty quick after initially getting over being po'd at me! Best wishes! I have a huge, long blog post I wrote about it at one point, so if you want me to send you the link, let me know!
