A pair of socks

"Turn the water on!"  Baby Boy exclaims.

"Put your socks in the dirty clothes pile," I respond.

These two phrases were repeated 54 gazillion times from the two of us.  It all started so simply and turned into a 25 minute battle of wills.  I was running BB's bath water (in my tub.  I normally bath the boys in my tub when TH is working so I can shower at the same time.)  Bath water is running while BB is taking off his socks.  He proceeds to throw them on the floor.  I ask him nicely to put his socks in the dirty clothes pile.  He stands in the bathroom and just looks at me..... looks at me with a total look of defiance.  I turn off the water for his bath and just look at him.

Stand-off ensues.

I give him one last warning to do as I ask.  I then inform him he won't be getting to play in the bath.  He can go to bed without a bath on this night.  I get in the shower with him standing there.....with the SOCK IN HIS HAND.  He's figured out that mama is going to win this battle.  He stands at the shower with the socks in his hand "threatening" to throw them in the shower.  ......stand-off #2.

Stubborn does not even begin to describe this child.  He gets it honestly but damn it will drive a person bananas.
