There's a local track I like to run at occasionally. If I'm tired of running our neighborhood or other local neighborhoods, I'll hit the track. I can get a decent run in and follow it up with running stairs. BUT, one reason why I forgo the track sometimes..... the people!
It's a public track. It has everyone there from the serious runner (which I'm not, I'm a pretend runner! Ha!) to the elderly man/woman. What irks me though.....
- Walking in the middle of the track. Hello! It's like the road... stay to the right so you can be passed on the left.
- 2 or more walking and doing more chatting than they are walking..... if you're going to walk side by side, pay attention so you can fall into file so others can get around you. I think it's grand that 75 year old people are walking... but it's a track and others are making use of it too. Pay attention! And leave room so a runner can stay on the track to get around you.
- If you chose to wear headphones, don't be surprised when someone brushes by you b/c you can't hear them.
- Running in between people doesn't bother me.. but don't be surprised if I decide to do so rather than hit the grass. I'm running the track because I don't want to run in the grass.
- Do NOT try to sell me on your "fitness program". I don't talk to strangers and really don't care what you have to say. I'll nod and smile at you but that's about it..... if I'm at a track it's because I don't want to be in a gym working with someone. Thanks but no thanks!
....... that about covers it! Like I said, running the track isn't something I do a lot but from time to time. I'm not an unfriendly person but I do believe in respecting those around you. I'll even make eye contact and smile. Don't expect me to speak once I've been going for a while b/c I'm probably too busy sucking wind and can't talk...... I can smile though!! And so can you!! :)
Let's all get along!! Wanna run with me?! :)
