Crossing my fingers

We had a long day around this joint.

I'm VERY big on having dinner together as a family. Tonight....we ate in shifts. :) It was 7:30 before I knew it and Lil Man had yet to have dinner. So I hustled him inside and got him fed while The Hubby finished cutting the grass. He was then thrown in the bath tub because he was one dirty little boy.

While The Hubby and I were eating dinner, I let Lil Man watch a cartoon he enjoys. This doesn't happen very often where I just park him but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

The perfect picture of relaxation! [grin] And hoping this child sleeps well tonight.

Not a creature was stirring

Oh wait.....that's right. Everyone in our home was up at 12:30 am this morning.....except Jake, my dog. The ironic thing is he was in OUR bedroom snoozing away in the corner all peaceful like.

Meanwhile.....I was sitting in the recliner trying to get Lil Man calmed down and back to sleep. The Hubby was "helping", and I use this termly loosely, while lying on the couch under a blanket. The term "helping" means SLEEPING in this instance! (I sit here chuckling to myself just thinking about it.) Finally, around 1:30ish Lil Man is back in his bed sound asleep and I'm making my way back to bed. Jake is still snoozing and The Hubby is back in bed. Amazing how that worked out huh.

*************

Had fun shopping yesterday though and scored several cute outfits!

Not so much

Let me start off by saying...... The sleepless night was so not my fault or the blueberries' fault either.

How do I know this you ask?

Because we had another sleepless night. Thank goodness The Hubby was home. He got to take most of the trips upstairs to Lil Man's room. I had made the decision to just put him in bed with us around 3:30ish am but then decided not go that route. NO one gets much sleep with Lil Man is our bed. Luckily, he slept from 3:30 until 7:30 with no wake ups.

The culprit at my best guess is two teeth coming in. That's what I'm hoping any way.

The Hubby sent me a message around 3:30 pm to tell me he was on the road. About 5:30ish or so I shot him a message asking what his estimated arrival time was. I never got a response. 5 minutes later this is what I see.

Hubby is walking up the sidewalk into the backyard.
Lil Man was all smiles and ran to his daddy
demanding to be picked up and held.

Happy to be home and happy to have him home. (I know I know it was only three days / two nights .....what can I say?! I like to have my boys with me!)

And Sara.... axe murderer did NOT attemped to get us!!!

My own fault

Last night was a rough night at our house. And I am pretty sure it's my fault.

I got maybe 4 hours of sleep (and that wasn't good sleep). Lil Man probably 6 or 7 hours.

Not really sure what his problem was..... but this might just have been the culprit.

Lil Man and I both love blueberries. I don't buy them a whole lot because they are expensive. Well yesterday as I stopped off to buy a few groceries, blueberries were on sale. So I bought two containers.

Lil Man and I ate a whole container for an afternoon snack. Actually, Lil Man ate most of it all by himself.

Tummy ache for Lil Man (I'm guessing) = Tired mommy.

Lesson learned: All good things in moderation (and be EXTRA careful when The Hubby is gone because he can't help you when you screw up!)

"You get a line, and I'll get a pole..Honey"

..you get a line and I'll get a pole...Babe. You get a line and
I'll get a pole...we'll go down to the crawdad hole....honey, baby oh
mine."

This is one of those random "songs" I have stuck in my head. Where it came from? Who the heck knows? My dad bought Lil Man a fishing rod because he was always wanting to play with his Poppa's. Well....the weather wasn't exactly lake weather this weekend, so....we improvised! [grin]. Lil Man practiced with his new rod in the backyard.....with his ever present sidekick, Jake.

A daddy showing his little boy how it's done.
(Obviously, you can see the house under construction in the background. We're getting some neighbors...young neighbors that is. Woo Hoo!! Our subdivision is mostly mid 40's and up. So we're excited! AND to make it even better, they have a little boy. Lil Man will have him a playmate!!)

"OK. Got my rod and tackle box. Let's do this!"

He looks so serious trying to figure it out. It amazes me what a little boy is naturally attuned to.

Getting some "help" from Jake.....these two are like brothers I swear. They annoy the heck out of each other but heaven forbid if someone messes with either one!

Practicing his cast.Ok ok..... I guess he's had enough of me taking pictures. I only took about 100. [grin] I was playing with different settings. I have to say this is a look he has probably seen me give more often than not. It cracked me up!.....but, I do think this was the last picture I took.

I have to give The Hubby a shout out. I am normally the one doing all the photo taking (unless we pay someone to do family shots that is!) He actually took several pictures BUT I had not showered for days! (JK JK!!!) I had showered but hadn't washed my hair so we'll just pretend those didn't take place. That's the good thing about this blog..... I can put what I want and say what I want.

Melt Down

It's have been one of those days in our household. I'm fairly certain that it's due to lack of sleep....lack of sleep for Lil Man that is.

Lil Man..... man oh man.....or should I say child oh child.

You have been one difficult little boy today. You must know daddy is getting ready to dip out of town for a few days. I guess you're just getting mommy prepared in advance.

So your daddy is putting you to bed early and giving mommy one last night "free" before he leaves. You woke up a happy boy then as the day has progressed your temperament has steadily gone down hill.

Here's to a good night's sleep and the two of us having a good week! Cause I still love you!! (AND MOMMY WANTS NO DRAMA PLEASE.....PRETTY PLEASE)

I'm a fool

a fool for you!

That is....I'm a fool for my husband.

I know I rant, rave, complain, and tell crazy stories but I love my husband dearly. We don't have a perfect marriage. I'm not perfect. He's not perfect. But we are perfect for each other. Things that used to melt my heart still do but there are other things that melt it even more so now.

Example

I walked in the house today. Sitting on the kitchen table were two Walmart bags. One was for the hubby; the other contained four pajama sets for Lil Man. I know.....you are probably thinking this girl has lost her ever loving mind. I promise I haven't though. But it honestly melted my heart. My husband doesn't ever buy Lil Man clothes. He has bought him the occasional t-shirt that caught his eye but not actually clothing. I've been saying for a week or so now that Lil Man needed new jammies b/c his summer pj's are too small. I hate to admit but my 21 month old is wearing 12 month old pj's. The pants hit high on his ankles and the shirt barely covers his belly. ........ I know I know. ......but it's kind of funny.

Anyway......The Hubby had to go buy dog food and went clothing shopping for my baby too. How can I not be in love with the man??!!

********************

On another note...... my dear father got a taste of his own medicine today. He and my mom took Lil Man out on the lake for a little while. When they got back to our house, my dad informed me that my child had whined or cried the whole time. I thought this was hilarious!! Normally, my child is the perfect little guy when my dad is around b/c he loves being with him so much. I'm glad my dad finally got to experience what everyone else has experienced...... a crabby Lil Man.

My child is a very good little boy for the most part. But he has his whiny days like any other child.....and my dad got his!! LOL

Sneak Preview

We had a family photo shoot a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to give a sneak preview of some of my favs of Lil Man.

I have to say normally I like black/white photos better....but this time, the color ones are the best!! I guess b/c it's spring time and the bright grass with Lil Man's polo is just too cute.

The last photo is Lil Man with his two cousins. They were having a blast running down the hill. Lil Man had a hard time keeping up with his little legs! :)

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's......

Ok, so it's a plane. Actually, multiple planes.....with a few helos thrown in. Our local county airport had a "Fly In". It was a fundraiser for the Human Society.

My child had a blast!!! The Hubby and I enjoyed ourselves too but Lil Man loved it!

Watching a plane come in. Lil Man doing his "plane arms" and screeching.

One of our favs.

My fellas posing. "Look but don't touch."
Two of the helos taking off. It was kind of crazy.
Planes didn't stop taking off and landing so these
two guys took off in between.

The Hubby checking a helo out.

Lil Man and I walking down "airplane lane".

Another take off. My kid got a kick out of it.

Doing his "airplane" arms.

They even had a couple of skydivers.

I have to mention this couple. They flew in after the Fly In started. One of the airport employees mentioned that they are in their 80's......Yes, you heard me correctly! 80 some odd years old and still flying planes. The gentleman told someone we with that he had been flying since 1933. So I just couldn't resist giving them a shout out.

Hope you're having a beautiful, relaxing Saturday.

Never say Never

yea yea yea........ I've heard it all my life

"Never say Never" because it usually comes back to bite you in the a&$.

Well, it has. These little shoes here are my "Never's".

Crocs.

I swore that my child would never wear them; I swore that I would never purchase them.

So that's no longer the truth.

My son is the proud owner of not one but two pairs of Crocs. The first pair was given to him; the second pair I purchased.

Now you're probably asking, "What's your problem with Crocs????"

My answer: "They are U G L Y!".......... but I have to say that they are easy to put on, easy to clean and generally indestructible. So there you have it....my child is a "Croc" kid.

But it will be a cold day in (you fill in the blank) before we are a family of Croc wearers (if that's a word or not who knows). If my life depended on it, I might and I repeat might wear them but that would be a last resort. Honestly, even then I doubt I would wear them. I would die happy and somewhat stylish. [grin]

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, and this is mine. If you wear Crocs, your child/children, and spouse, no offense intended but I would probably talk about you if I saw you as a family of Cros wearers in the street..... especially if you as an adult were wearing NEON orange Crocs. LOL

And please let me say that these shoes are not only ugly but expensive. Seriously.....$30. Oh My Word!!!

Dear Hubby

When I ask you to do one simple thing in the morning (change our child's diaper) because I'm running late, please just do it! And when you come in late (7:00pm) and there's a mess on the kitchen floor, don't ask about it. Just ignore it!

Love you!

Your wife

*****

So let me explain:

Yesterday late evening, Hubby walks in the door (7:00ish). Lil Man and I had already eaten dinner. I had forewarned said husband that we were only waiting until 6:30 then we were eating with or without him. I cooked Chicken Parmesan by the way!....anywhoo.....there were plastic storage containers ALL over the kitchen floor (I admit it looked like a tornado had hit). Lil Man had kept himself entertained by pulling them out of the drawers and stepping on them. I frankly did NOT care....he was playing close by, out of my way and letting me get dinner cooked. This was the first thing said Hubby commented on; just about sent me through the roof. I smiled and said I would clean it up later. I honestly think it's still there this morning. Do I care??? Not so much!

THEN.......this morning.

Our mornings usually consist of this: I get up and get dressed; Hubby is still in the bed; I get our child up, diaper changed and dressed; Hubby is still in the bed; I take child to my mom's (where thankfully SHE does breakfast) and head to work; Hubby is still in bed; Hubby gets up and takes dog out for a walk and then heads into work.

I honestly don't mind that the man doesn't do a whole lot in the mornings. I'm okay with that UNTIL the one morning I randomly ask for a small favor........I was running late b/c my child got up early. Lil Man had been playing in the bathroom with me as I got ready. I asked Hubby to go change his diaper right quick while I was finishing up. Hubby calls Lil Man several times with no response (while still lying in the bed)....this is where I get super annoyed, take care of it myself and head out the door.

"I was getting ready to do it. I'm not sure why you're annoyed," responds Hubby.

When I wake you up during the night to take care of our child, just think about these incidents my darling love. No complaints from the peanut gallery allowed! [smirk]

Does anyone feel my pain??? Or am I the pain??? {grin} If you think I'm the pain, no need to comment because this was my rant post and I'm always right thankyousomuch!!! LOL

Jake still has to poop

even though Daddy is working late.

Mommy still needs to exercise even though Daddy is working late.

So..........

this is how I roll even though (because) Daddy is working late!!

Yep, that's right. It's raining! And my mommy still puts me in the jogger and off we go. But luckily for me, she got me a cover for my jogger. She and Jake are getting wet. I'm "snug as a bug in a rug!"

Love,

Lil Man

Finally Friday

I have Spring Fever!!

The weather is beautiful, and I want to be "playing" outside. As of right now though, I'm sitting in the office attempting to do some work.

Work these days is amazing. Our company is doing good. It's not all fun and games by any means but we're hanging in there and will still be standing when this economy levels out some. It's an "everyone is out for themselves" kind of environment right now. Me, Myself, and I seems to be where loyalties lay.

Not a whole lot on the agenda this weekend. The Hubby is playing in a softball tournament tomorrow at a local park. Lil Man and I will probably pack us a picnic and go hang out to "watch" the games. I'm thinking of calling the teen that we've talked to about doing some babysitting and seeing if she would like to tag along so Lil Man and I can get to know her. As I even type it........ I'm getting little nervous.

It has nothing to do with the babysitter. (The Hubby knows her as well as her family pretty darn well so it's not a matter of trust.) It's a matter of this mommy letting someone other than grandparents keep my baby. What's a girl to do??????

What did you do the first time someone kept your child?

What kind of ground rules did you put in place?

She can pretty much name her price as far as I'm concerned as long as my child has the BEST, UNDIVIDED ATTENTION she can offer. Oh the joys of motherhood. :)

Fun Family Time

We had a BLAST at Disney last week.

We got to Florida late Sunday night. Monday we just hung out at the house and let the kids play and swim.

Tuesday the fun began. We headed for Magic Kingdom around 10:30ish. Let me just say getting to the park was work in itself. Packing for kids....(and we only have 1) it's not the easiest job. Holly and Philip have two little ones so they had even more to worry about taking.

The Hubby and I decided we wanted to ride Pirates of the Caribbean. Lil Man was on board with us. Maybe ....... this was not the most child appropriate ride we could have chosen. Lil Man did good though.... only had one little scary moment.

Here's the picture as we are arriving on the ferry to actually get to the park.

Holly and and her Lil Man on the ferry ride.

Our handsome fellas doing daddy duty. Thank goodness for nice strollers. The children spent a good deal of time in them that's for sure.

Waiting on the train to arrive to take a ride around the park. This was Lil Man's style. He didn't care about any of the rides per say...... but put him on a train, truck or boat and he's good to go.
"All aboard!"
We had heard that the firework display was awesome. On the first day, we really had no plans to stay and watch. We were going to come back the next night. Well..... slight change of plans. We were at the park later than we thought we would be so we just ate dinner and stayed for the show. And a show it was.
Here's a picture of the castle as it was changing colors throughout the firework show. AWESOME!!
My Lil Man and and I watching the show. Can you see how tired the poor little guy is? I was so proud of how good he was during the day.
Our family shot for the day. Lil Man wouldn't let me put him down for a photo with just him and Mickey and Minnie. What you don't see is what was to come!! Minnie got fresh with my man. :) She gave him a big ole kiss!! Ha Ha

This is how Lil Man returned to the house at the end of the day. I think it was about 10:00pm when we rolled in. I got him out of the car and laid him on his bed. I then proceeded to change his diaper and put on his pj's...... all without him waking up. My baby was pooped!!

WELL RESTED AND READY TO DO IT AGAIN!!

Our second day consisted of Animal Kingdom. We thought the kids would enjoy this because of all the animals they could see.

The Hubby and Lil Man posing for me. This was as we were headed into a 3D show about bugs. Lil Man and I made it for 3 minutes before he got spooked, and I had to take him out.

We went for a safari ride. This is what our "bus" looked like.
My two loves looking at some animals.

"What's going on back there??"
Our family shot for the day. Yes..... my child and I are laughing like loons. I think we were getting a little delirious at this point. Two days of this makes for long days!
But fun we did have!!!

We took Thursday "off" and let everyone (adults included) relax. We hung out at the house again for the day, swam and napped.........even the adults.
Friday......SeaWorld. I will tell about that soon.
