If Daddy does it.....I can do it!

We had a blast with friends Friday night!! Then got to sleep in Saturday morning....fabulous!!

Yesterday and today, we spent each day, all day being outside. Washed cars. Played with the hose. Went for a boat ride. Just enjoyed being together and hanging out!

"I can do it! I can do it!"

"Daddy won't let me scrub his car.....guess I'll stick to the brick wall. [grin]"

Moving on the the golf clubs. Having fun with his own toys for once.....instead of Daddy's.

This is the perfect picture to describe ALL of us tonight. POOPED!

We had tiring weekend spent outside having fun!

Gotta date.....can't be late!

The Hubby and I have a date tonight with two other couples. Yippee!!

And the best part..... all children involved are being kept by their grandparents for the WHOLE night. Yep, that's what I said...all night long.

We are planning on doing a late dinner followed by hitting up a club to listen to some music. Bottom line is we (as parents that normally have a "curfew") do NOT have one tonight!

Do you have a couple you "date" on a regular basis?

The Hubby and I do. We normally do a "date" with P and H once a week. Children are involved most of the time.....but those rare occasions when they aren't.....we have a blast. Holly and I have been accused or labeled as "two peas in a pod". [grin] I chose to take this as a compliment...sometimes when coming from our husbands though ......they are normally giving us a hard time! Our guys are a lot alike too though.

Happy "Dating"!

Crossing my fingers

We had a long day around this joint.

I'm VERY big on having dinner together as a family. Tonight....we ate in shifts. :) It was 7:30 before I knew it and Lil Man had yet to have dinner. So I hustled him inside and got him fed while The Hubby finished cutting the grass. He was then thrown in the bath tub because he was one dirty little boy.

While The Hubby and I were eating dinner, I let Lil Man watch a cartoon he enjoys. This doesn't happen very often where I just park him but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

The perfect picture of relaxation! [grin] And hoping this child sleeps well tonight.

Not a creature was stirring

Oh wait.....that's right. Everyone in our home was up at 12:30 am this morning.....except Jake, my dog. The ironic thing is he was in OUR bedroom snoozing away in the corner all peaceful like.

Meanwhile.....I was sitting in the recliner trying to get Lil Man calmed down and back to sleep. The Hubby was "helping", and I use this termly loosely, while lying on the couch under a blanket. The term "helping" means SLEEPING in this instance! (I sit here chuckling to myself just thinking about it.) Finally, around 1:30ish Lil Man is back in his bed sound asleep and I'm making my way back to bed. Jake is still snoozing and The Hubby is back in bed. Amazing how that worked out huh.

*************

Had fun shopping yesterday though and scored several cute outfits!

Girlfriend + Shopping

=

Good Times.

This is what's on my agenda for later on today. A girlfriend and I are taking an afternoon to do a little shopping.

No precious babies; no handsome hubbies.

Just 2 HOT Mommas.

Display with pride

This is what was flying on the front of our house today! Flying with pride and honor.......Pride b/c I'm an American.....Honor for those who gave their lives.

The day started off kind of gloomy with several rain showers. I honestly thought it was going to be a wash of a day......which meant I couldn't fly my flag. We're big on our flag not getting wet or still being up once dusk falls. But as you can see, flying in the beautiful weather.

We had a wonderful day with friends and family. Just enjoying being with those that we love.

****** ****** ****** *******

On another note..... Lil Man is SUCH a sellout!!!! [grin] Here he is giving some of my lovin away.....to HER. :)

My child is not very good at warming up to others. I have two girlfriends that he just loves. And Holly is one of them. My child was even crying at one point and wanted Holly.....NOT his mommy! And when I say warming up..... my child really only goes to The Hubby, my in-laws, my parents and myself. But as you can see, Lil Man loves him some Holly.

Decisions Decision.....which one to wear?

This is what I found Lil Man doing while The Hubby and I were getting ready for church. He was having a hard time deciding between his daddy's work boots, my black low-heeled sandals or flops. [grin]

Obviously, we have a little work to do on which way boots go! LOL

"I give up on the boots and heels."

"This is more my style. Will they go with my outfit for church?" "No, Son, they won't!" :)

I'm happy to say he didn't go with the heels. I might have cause for concern......or maybe not this young. Too bad I didn't get the shot of him trying my bedroom slippers on. They're HOT pink. That was a sight!

******************

We have plans to spend tomorrow on the lake. I'm sad to say it's looking like the weather is NOT going to play nice. Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day! Make sure you fly your American flag in support of those we are honoring tomorrow.

Nonstop..... all day long

Lil Man and I hit the ground running this morning. He slept in until 8:30 which is abnormal but he had a rough night again so I guess he was still tired.

The Hubby left early to go fishing with my dad so it was just my baby and me this morning. We got breakfast knocked out and then went for a walk with Jake. AFTER, I saved a baby turtle from Jake. ( I looked out the back door and saw Jake digging at something. I just thought he was digging a hole in the grass so I went out to stop him. He wouldn't stop so I went closer and saw a baby turtle on the ground. The poor thing was huddling in his shell.)

When we got back from our walk, Lil Man was playing in the backyard. I was just sitting there chilling not doing anything. Then I get this bright idea to pull out the push mower and cut the grass. We have a riding mower but I don't have a clue how to work it. SO..........our backyard isn't that big, so I pushed it. About 2/3's done, Lil Man wants me to hold him. What's a mommy to do???? Leave the grass half ass ed cut or finish cutting????

I picked up Lil Man, threw him on my hip, and finished cutting with grass. Yea Yea Yea.... I know. Probably not the safest decision I could have made but I was very attentive to what I was doing. But cutting grass while holding a toddler.....NOT SO EASY!! My neighbors probably thought I had lost my mind.

Lil Man and I then played on our fresh cut grass until his little temper got the best of him and we went inside. Lunch was taken are of; The Hubby came home from fishing. It was nap time!!

1.5 hrs later....nap over; MIL and FIL are here ready to go to a local Memorial Day celebration. Bands, local artists/crafts, and food. Met up with some friends and hung out. Went to dinner and rolled up back at the house around 9ish.

Hubby is still working. :(

BUT.......Monday off for Memorial Day and Friday is date night. We have plans with two other couples. And the best part.... we all have sitters lined up for ALL night!!!! LOL I'm excited just thinking about it. We don't' have a curfew and can stay out as long as our hearts desire. Grandparents are keeping all the little ones so we know they're safe, it's free, and it's game on.

Not so much

Let me start off by saying...... The sleepless night was so not my fault or the blueberries' fault either.

How do I know this you ask?

Because we had another sleepless night. Thank goodness The Hubby was home. He got to take most of the trips upstairs to Lil Man's room. I had made the decision to just put him in bed with us around 3:30ish am but then decided not go that route. NO one gets much sleep with Lil Man is our bed. Luckily, he slept from 3:30 until 7:30 with no wake ups.

The culprit at my best guess is two teeth coming in. That's what I'm hoping any way.

The Hubby sent me a message around 3:30 pm to tell me he was on the road. About 5:30ish or so I shot him a message asking what his estimated arrival time was. I never got a response. 5 minutes later this is what I see.

Hubby is walking up the sidewalk into the backyard.
Lil Man was all smiles and ran to his daddy
demanding to be picked up and held.

Happy to be home and happy to have him home. (I know I know it was only three days / two nights .....what can I say?! I like to have my boys with me!)

And Sara.... axe murderer did NOT attemped to get us!!!

My own fault

Last night was a rough night at our house. And I am pretty sure it's my fault.

I got maybe 4 hours of sleep (and that wasn't good sleep). Lil Man probably 6 or 7 hours.

Not really sure what his problem was..... but this might just have been the culprit.

Lil Man and I both love blueberries. I don't buy them a whole lot because they are expensive. Well yesterday as I stopped off to buy a few groceries, blueberries were on sale. So I bought two containers.

Lil Man and I ate a whole container for an afternoon snack. Actually, Lil Man ate most of it all by himself.

Tummy ache for Lil Man (I'm guessing) = Tired mommy.

Lesson learned: All good things in moderation (and be EXTRA careful when The Hubby is gone because he can't help you when you screw up!)

Bok Bok.....Bok Bok

This is what Lil Man and I have on the menu for this week.

I roasted a chicken last night for dinner along with some veggies. The Hubby is out of town so I decided to make life simple. Lil Man and I obviously can't eat a whole chicken by ourselves so I'm being inventive and making multiple things from this one chicken. Tonight the menu consists of Mexican Chicken & Garbanzo Bean Simmer (if it's worth having again I'll post the recipe.) I made chicken salad to eat for lunch for a few days. Now I'm just trying to figure out what to have for tomorrow night. I'm thinking Chicken Enchiladas with some Spanish rice.

Yes, my child eats all this. Thank the Good Lord that I don't have a picky eater. I'm just praying in continues that way!!

Chicken anyone???? LOL If you have a chicken recipe that you love, why don't you share with me.

"You get a line, and I'll get a pole..Honey"

..you get a line and I'll get a pole...Babe. You get a line and
I'll get a pole...we'll go down to the crawdad hole....honey, baby oh
mine."

This is one of those random "songs" I have stuck in my head. Where it came from? Who the heck knows? My dad bought Lil Man a fishing rod because he was always wanting to play with his Poppa's. Well....the weather wasn't exactly lake weather this weekend, so....we improvised! [grin]. Lil Man practiced with his new rod in the backyard.....with his ever present sidekick, Jake.

A daddy showing his little boy how it's done.
(Obviously, you can see the house under construction in the background. We're getting some neighbors...young neighbors that is. Woo Hoo!! Our subdivision is mostly mid 40's and up. So we're excited! AND to make it even better, they have a little boy. Lil Man will have him a playmate!!)

"OK. Got my rod and tackle box. Let's do this!"

He looks so serious trying to figure it out. It amazes me what a little boy is naturally attuned to.

Getting some "help" from Jake.....these two are like brothers I swear. They annoy the heck out of each other but heaven forbid if someone messes with either one!

Practicing his cast.Ok ok..... I guess he's had enough of me taking pictures. I only took about 100. [grin] I was playing with different settings. I have to say this is a look he has probably seen me give more often than not. It cracked me up!.....but, I do think this was the last picture I took.

I have to give The Hubby a shout out. I am normally the one doing all the photo taking (unless we pay someone to do family shots that is!) He actually took several pictures BUT I had not showered for days! (JK JK!!!) I had showered but hadn't washed my hair so we'll just pretend those didn't take place. That's the good thing about this blog..... I can put what I want and say what I want.

Melt Down

It's have been one of those days in our household. I'm fairly certain that it's due to lack of sleep....lack of sleep for Lil Man that is.

Lil Man..... man oh man.....or should I say child oh child.

You have been one difficult little boy today. You must know daddy is getting ready to dip out of town for a few days. I guess you're just getting mommy prepared in advance.

So your daddy is putting you to bed early and giving mommy one last night "free" before he leaves. You woke up a happy boy then as the day has progressed your temperament has steadily gone down hill.

Here's to a good night's sleep and the two of us having a good week! Cause I still love you!! (AND MOMMY WANTS NO DRAMA PLEASE.....PRETTY PLEASE)

Just the 3 of us

A few more pictures from our family photo shoot. I love taking pictures and love having our picture taken. I have to say The Hubby is very accommodating and doesn't complain too much. [grin]

This is one of my favorite of the three of us!

Lil Man and me having a fun moment.

"Look! I'm flying!"

Does this photo really need an explanation?
Can you not see the love between these two fellas?
How can they not have my heart?

My favorite!! It's obviously not a real closeup
but it's where the Hubby and I met.

I'm a fool

a fool for you!

That is....I'm a fool for my husband.

I know I rant, rave, complain, and tell crazy stories but I love my husband dearly. We don't have a perfect marriage. I'm not perfect. He's not perfect. But we are perfect for each other. Things that used to melt my heart still do but there are other things that melt it even more so now.

Example

I walked in the house today. Sitting on the kitchen table were two Walmart bags. One was for the hubby; the other contained four pajama sets for Lil Man. I know.....you are probably thinking this girl has lost her ever loving mind. I promise I haven't though. But it honestly melted my heart. My husband doesn't ever buy Lil Man clothes. He has bought him the occasional t-shirt that caught his eye but not actually clothing. I've been saying for a week or so now that Lil Man needed new jammies b/c his summer pj's are too small. I hate to admit but my 21 month old is wearing 12 month old pj's. The pants hit high on his ankles and the shirt barely covers his belly. ........ I know I know. ......but it's kind of funny.

Anyway......The Hubby had to go buy dog food and went clothing shopping for my baby too. How can I not be in love with the man??!!

********************

On another note...... my dear father got a taste of his own medicine today. He and my mom took Lil Man out on the lake for a little while. When they got back to our house, my dad informed me that my child had whined or cried the whole time. I thought this was hilarious!! Normally, my child is the perfect little guy when my dad is around b/c he loves being with him so much. I'm glad my dad finally got to experience what everyone else has experienced...... a crabby Lil Man.

My child is a very good little boy for the most part. But he has his whiny days like any other child.....and my dad got his!! LOL

Sneak Preview

We had a family photo shoot a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to give a sneak preview of some of my favs of Lil Man.

I have to say normally I like black/white photos better....but this time, the color ones are the best!! I guess b/c it's spring time and the bright grass with Lil Man's polo is just too cute.

The last photo is Lil Man with his two cousins. They were having a blast running down the hill. Lil Man had a hard time keeping up with his little legs! :)

Alarm vs Wife

Which is more reliable.....especially when you tell said wife at 1:30 in the morning (when you get home from work) to wake you up before she leaves for work.
VS.
(This is obviously not me at 1:30 am but you get my drift.
And I certainly don't have a big a$# grin on my face at
that time of morning either.)
**********
Ding Ding Ding.....YOU'RE RIGHT! NOT the wife!! (As my husband can tell you from this morning's experience.)
**********
Darling husband.....if you have a meeting (or several meetings) lined up, then don't rely on a middle of the night conversation with semi conscious wife to get you up. Sorry you had to learn that lesson the hard way. That's why you have that nice (and expensive if I remember correctly) alarm clock sitting on your side of the bed. Rely on it next time. Hopefully, it won't let you down.
And I am sorry that I didn't remember that conversation either.
Mornings in our house seem a little crazy. Are they that way in your home????

I'm a mommy......

to this little guy. Do I really need to say more? LOL It's not always fun; it's not always easy...but it's always worth it!!

I'm a mommy.......

not a mother. The word Mother just sounds so formal and uptight. And if you know me IRL, the last thing I am is formal....heck, if you are just a blogging friend I'd say you realize I'm not formal.

I had a wonderful Mommy's Day.

Do anything special? No

Get expensive gifts? No

But I did spend the day with my mom, my grandmother as well as some other family. And I have to say...The Hubby took care of "baby duty" beginning Saturday night. He did bath/bed time and let me relax then did it all again Sunday night.

As you can see from the pictures, we just hung out and enjoyed some family time. My sweet baby is already showing an obsession with hats like his daddy. What can I say? :)

Being a clown. Enjoying everyone laughing at him.

My mom. (A wonderful mom who in the past several years

has become a wonderful friend too.)

And obviously my Lil Man loves him some NaNa too.

I know....it's mommy's day not daddy's day

but I couldn't resist. Aren't my two fellas cute??!!

To all that are mothers/moms/mommies, I hope you had a wonderful day. To those that are wishing to be, I pray that it is something you experience in the near future!! Because there is nothing in this world like being a mom.

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's......

Ok, so it's a plane. Actually, multiple planes.....with a few helos thrown in. Our local county airport had a "Fly In". It was a fundraiser for the Human Society.

My child had a blast!!! The Hubby and I enjoyed ourselves too but Lil Man loved it!

Watching a plane come in. Lil Man doing his "plane arms" and screeching.

One of our favs.

My fellas posing. "Look but don't touch."
Two of the helos taking off. It was kind of crazy.
Planes didn't stop taking off and landing so these
two guys took off in between.

The Hubby checking a helo out.

Lil Man and I walking down "airplane lane".

Another take off. My kid got a kick out of it.

Doing his "airplane" arms.

They even had a couple of skydivers.

I have to mention this couple. They flew in after the Fly In started. One of the airport employees mentioned that they are in their 80's......Yes, you heard me correctly! 80 some odd years old and still flying planes. The gentleman told someone we with that he had been flying since 1933. So I just couldn't resist giving them a shout out.

Hope you're having a beautiful, relaxing Saturday.
